News: 6 injured in rollover crash in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, WA – Two adults and four children were injured in a rollover crash on a beach in southwest Washington on Saturday afternoon, according to the Chinook Observer.

Washington State Police responded to an incident about a mile south of the Cranberry Road beach approach at 12:48 p.m. on Saturday, March 20. A 2000 GMC Yukon that had been seen speeding and performing stunts lost traction on the wet sand and overturned several times, injuring the six people inside. All are believed to be current residents of Vancouver.

The driver of the vehicle was critically injured and was airlifted to a hospital in Portland for treatment. He has been identified as 46-year-old Ted E. Fowler. An adult passenger, 36-year-old Sara R. Doty, received treatment at Ocean Beach Hospital (OBH) and is expected to recover.

An 8-year-old boy was also seriously hurt, and was rushed to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland to undergo emergency surgery on his left arm. We do not have any details on his present condition.

Three other children were also hurt, although less seriously. Their ages are 2, 3, and 6. We have no further information on them, either.
