KING COUNTY, WA — Four people were hurt early Saturday in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 5 near southeast SeaTac, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident took place on the southbound lanes at South 200th Street (milepost 151-2), near Angle Lake. It was first reported by the Washington State Patrol at 12:27 a.m.
An early investigation shows a 2019 Jeep Grand and a 2012 Toyota Prius were traveling southbound in lane 1 when the Jeep used the right shoulder to pass another vehicle and re-entered the lane. Moments after, the Jeep tried to enter lane 2 but hit the Toyota, causing the second car to lost control. The Toyota then overturned into the right shoulder before coming to rest on its roof in a nearby ditch.
Officials said the driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old Tenino woman, and one of her passengers, a 28-year-old woman, both suffered undisclosed injuries and were transported to Valley Medical Center. One other passenger in the vehicle, a 26-year-old Olympia man, was not reported hurt.
The driver of the Jeep, a 25-year-old Puyallup man, and his passenger, a 33-year-old Yakima woman, also sustained injuries but were not taken to a hospital.
A section of the roadway was shut down for over 4 hours during the emergency response and investigation.
An investigation was underway, but the WSP said the Puyallup man faces a charge of vehicular assault. All involved parties were found to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck.
