News: 3 hurt in fiery wrong-way crash in Renton involving DUI suspect

KING COUNTY, WA — Authorities are investigating a wrong-way collision early Sunday in north Renton that left three people injured, according to KOMO News.

The accident unfolded on the southbound lanes of Interstate 405 near North 30th Street, in an area north of State Route 900. Washington State Patrol troopers and emergency crew responded to the scene some time before 5:09 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate multiple vehicles were impacted by the wreck, which involved one vehicle traveling in the wrong direction.

As a result of the collision, two vehicles caught fire, and three people suffered minor injuries.

Following the incident, troopers arrested the driver who caused the crash for an investigation into suspected impairment.

By 6:00 a.m., roadways in the area were shut down, but at 7:00 a.m., an hour later, all southbound lanes of I-405 were reopened to the public.
