YAKIMA COUNTY, WA — A baby, a young girl, and a 24-year-old woman were hospitalized Saturday after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 82 near Outlook, according to KOMO News.
The Washington State Patrol said the wreck occurred on the westbound lanes heading toward Granger.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 33-year-old man was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling eastbound on the westbound highway. At one point, his vehicle collided head-on with the woman’s car.
The female driver, and her two young children, a five-year-old girl and an eight-month-old baby, all suffered undisclosed injuries. First responders rushed the three patients to Memorial Hospital. A GoFundMe set up for the family indicates their dog died as a result of the wreck.
The wrong-way driver, who was not reported hurt, was determined to have been under the influence or alcohol. According to the WSP, he faces a number of charges.
