SEATTLE, WA — Two teenagers died early Wednesday after their car was struck by a pickup truck on the West Seattle Bridge, according to KOMO News.
Seattle Police responded to the scene on the westbound lanes of the bridge at about 12:20 a.m.
An early investigation shows a white pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided with a sedan.
The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old male, and his passenger, an 18-year-old female, were both pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed the Seattle Fire Department.
First responders rushed the pickup truck driver to a local hospital with serious injuries. According to the SPD, the wrong-way driver, who displayed signs of impairment, is facing charges of vehicular homicide.
All westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes of the bridge were shut down in the immediate aftermath. Shortly before 1:00 a.m., all eastbound lanes were reported reopened, and by 5:55 a.m., all westbound lanes were cleared for traffic.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the SPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation detectives.
