THURSTON COUNTY, WA — Two people were sent to a hospital Monday morning after a semi-truck crash on Interstate 5 in Lacey, according to KOMO News.
The Washington State Patrol said the accident occurred on the southbound interstate at Carpenter Road Northeast, at about 7:00 a.m.
While the cause of the wreck was unclear, authorities said it included at least two vehicles, one of which was a semi-truck carrying fuel.
Two people suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
Two right lanes were blocked, and all of southbound I-5 near Martin Way toward Saint Martin’s University was reduced to a single left lane as a result.
As crews continued working to clear the fuel truck, which overturned on the roadway, the closure was expected to stay in place into the evening. Commuters were asked to either delay their travels through the area or find alternate routes.
According to the WSP, one of the trailers was leaking gasoline, prompting a response from the Department of Ecology.
