CHEWELAH, WA – Two people were injured at a ski resort in eastern Washington Saturday when the lift chair they were sitting on detached from its line, KING 5 reports.
The accident took place on 49 Degrees North’s Chair 1, which was suspended for 20 minutes as the individuals were treated by the ski patrol. While a press release from the ski resort reported only minor injuries, this has not been independently confirmed.
49 Degrees North has closed Chair 1 indefinitely as it investigates the mechanical issue that caused the accident, and “will be working with industry experts and regulatory agencies to identify and rectify the issue,” according to a press release.
