SNOHOMISH, WA – Two drivers were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened on State Route 9 North on Saturday, Kiro7 said.
The incident unfolded before 7:30 p.m., when a 36-year-old adult from Shelton was driving north on the freeway when they crossed the center lane and struck two vehicles.
The impact of the crash caused the 36-year-old adult’s car to overturn and come to rest on top. One vehicle crashed into a ditch, and another came to rest on the shoulder. One of the drivers became trapped inside their vehicle, requiring extrication from Snohomish County Fire District 4.
Fire crews took nearly 20 minutes to free the driver, using the Jaws of Life to accomplish the extrication.
The freed driver and another motorist were then rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. One of them is recovering from serious injuries, and another is in a life-threatening condition.
Washington State Patrol confirmed the third driver was uninjured.
WSP suspects the causing driver may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol and will face DUI-related charges.
A full investigation is underway.
