KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Two people were sent to a hospital Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle wreck in south Port Orchard, according to Kitsap Sun.
Deputies with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, along with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews, were called to the scene on Bethel Burley Road at Southeast Shadowood Drive at about 4:15 a.m.
An early investigation indicates a 39-year-old Bremerton man was behind the wheel of an Audi A7 traveling northbound on the road when the sedan veered past the center line. It then hit the left front side of a southbound Toyota Sienna van driven by a 48-year-old Port Orchard man, sending the van off the roadway. Officials said the van struck the dirt and a nearby embankment before overturning onto its side.
After continuing northbound for a short stretch, the Audi came to a stop on the right shoulder.
Medics transported the driver of the Toyota to Tacoma General Hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.
The driver of the Audi was also taken to Tacoma General with undisclosed injuries. He gave a blood sample after being suspected of impairment by marijuana.
Two male passengers in the Toyota, ages 39 and 43, received treatment for minor injuries at the scene.
A section of Bethel Burley Road was blocked until about 10:15 a.m. for an investigation.
At this time, officials with the Kitsap County interagency traffic team and the Bremerton Police Department continue to investigate.
