SKAGIT COUNTY, WA — Two people were hospitalized Saturday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while riding bikes with two children in Mount Vernon, according to FOX13 Seattle.
The incident occurred at Fir Street and North Laventure Road on April 22, at about 2:00 p.m.
Mount Vernon Police said a vehicle was heading northbound on North Laventure Road when it veered past the center line and cross southbound traffic. It then jumped the curb and crashed into the family.
Two adult cyclists, a 46-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were rushed to Skagit Valley Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed, but they were said to be recovering.
Two boys, aged 10 and 12, were riding near the victims at the time but were not hurt.
According to authorities, the male driver and his female passenger initially got out of their vehicle, but then got back in and fled the scene. They were seen turning onto Kulshan Avenue, where they abandoned their four-door sedan after striking multiple parked vehicles.
As of this writing, the two suspects have not been located, but an investigation remains in progress.
