TACOMA, WA — Four people, including two children, were hospitalized Friday morning after their vehicle was hit by a car that was engaged in an apparent street race in Tacoma, according to KOMO News.
The Washington State Patrol said the wreck occurred on the northbound side of Interstate 5 at McKinley Avenue. It was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation – Tacoma at around 7:56 a.m.
Details are limited at this time, but authorities said a man was driving a pickup truck carrying an adult female passenger and two juvenile passengers. At one point, the pickup was struck by a white car whose driver was allegedly racing another vehicle on the interstate.
The WSP said the driver of the pickup suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman and two children in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. All patients were transported to an area hospital. No other injuries have been reported.
Following the collision, the causing driver was taken into custody for an investigation into vehicular assault.
No further information has been shared at this time. An investigation remains underway.
