PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized Tuesday morning following a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 16 in central Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident happened on the eastbound highway at Exit 1A to Center Street, near Allenmore Golf Course. WSP troopers, Washington State Department of Transportation crews, and Tacoma firefighters all responded to the scene shortly before 9:40 a.m.
It was unclear what led up to the wreck, but two right lanes were shut down during the response.
One driver suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
By 10:40 a.m., an hour after the initial report, the scene had been cleared from the roadway and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
