BENTON COUNTY, WA — A 35-year-old Redmond woman died early Friday after a two-vehicle wreck that left five others seriously injured on State Route 14 near Plymouth, reports Tri-City Herald.
The fatal accident happened at the intersection with South Plymouth Road, shortly before 4:30 a.m.
According to the Washington State Patrol, A 33-year-old Bellevue woman was driving a GMC Sierra southbound on Plymouth Road when she ran the stop sign before the highway. The Sierra then collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck that was hauling a boat atop a trailer.
The Redmond woman, who was a passenger in the Sierra, died from her injuries at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the Sierra and two other occupants, Bellevue residents aged 26 and 27, were transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. The severity of their condition has not been reported.
The Ford’s 42-year-old male driver and his passenger, an 11-year-old boy, were also taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
A section of the highway was shut down in both directions for about four hours during an investigation. By 8:30 a.m., the roadway had been reopened to traffic.
No other details have been shared at this time, but officials noted all occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
