News: 1 killed, 1 injured when car crashes into Duwamish River

KING COUNTY, WA — A woman died early Saturday morning after crashing her car into the Duwamish River in Tukwila, according to KOMO News.

Police and first responders arrived at the scene near the Interurban trail at about 12:20 a.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the accident, but officials said the woman was traveling with a male juvenile passenger when when her car went into the river.

Officials said the female driver was pronounced deceased.

The boy was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. His relationship with the the driver was not confirmed during the emergency response, but he was later released to family.

Later the same day, crews returned to the scene to remove the vehicle from the water.

No further details have been shared at this time, but an investigation was underway.
