News: 1 killed, 1 injured in train-SUV collision in Steilacoom 

STEILACOOM, WA – One person was killed, and another was injured in a collision between a freight train and an SUV on Union Avenue on Monday night.

Fox13Seattle said the collision happened before 11:30 p.m. outside the Steilacoom Ferry Dock. The force of the crash led one vehicle passenger to succumb to their injuries at the scene, and another person got entrapped or pinned inside their vehicle.

A group of good Samaritans rescued the person who was trapped prior to EMS crews arriving. Once ambulance personnel arrived, they transported the surviving occupant to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

​​West Pierce Fire and Rescue, DuPont Police, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Lakewood Police, Puyallup Police, Fife Police, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Police also responded to the scene.
