News: 1 injured in hit-and-run crash at north Seattle homeless encampment

SEATTLE, WA — At least one person was hurt Tuesday night when a driver jumped a curb and crashed into a row of tents in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood, reports KOMO News.

The incident occurred off the intersection of North 85th Street and 1st Avenue, near the Fred Meyer and Bartell Drugs stores.

Two people told Seattle Police a driver towing a trailer appeared to intentionally target them. They said the vehicle jumped a curb and collided with a row of tents twice before fleeing the scene.

One male victim who was inside an impacted tent reported injuries to his leg, but officials did not say whether he was transported to a hospital.

The two victims noted they have faced ongoing harassment since joining the area’s small homeless encampment.

No updates have been shared at this time, but an investigation by the SPD was underway.
