News: 1 hurt when semi-truck tire hits USFS vehicle near Maple Valley

KING COUNTY, WA — At least one person was injured Thursday morning when a U.S. Forest Service vehicle was struck by a loose tire near Maple Valley, reports FOX13 Seattle.

The Washington State Patrol responded to the incident on the eastbound lanes of State Route 18, near State Route 169, at about 9:20 a.m.

According to officials, a tire came off of a semi-truck heading westbound on SR-18, went over the median and slammed into the front of the USFS vehicle.

The WSP said minor injuries were reported, though it was unclear whether anyone had to be transported to a hospital.

A photo taken at the scene shows severe damage to the hood area of the victim vehicle.

Troopers were able to locate the semi parked along the shoulder of the westbound highway.

As of this writing, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
