News: 1 dead following crash on Interstate 5 in Star Lake

KENT, WA – One person died in a wreck on southbound Interstate 5 near South 272nd Street on Wednesday morning, according to Trooper Rick Johnson. 

#BlockingCollision SB I-5 near S. 272nd. There is 1 fatality. A work truck being towed broke down and was struck by another vehicle. It is believed that a couple other vehicles became involved trying to avoid the initial collision. Only HOV open.

A work truck was being towed when the tow became disabled, and it was hit by another vehicle. 

Multiple other drivers crashed while trying to avoid the initial wreck. 

All lanes were closed except for the HOV lane following the collision. 

Officials have not released the victim’s name. 

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
