SHORELINE, WA – A 42-year-old man from Lake Stevens lost his life to a pedestrian crash that occurred on an I-5 ramp connecting to NW 175th Street Saturday.
Washington State Patrol told The Seattle Times that crash happened after the Granite Falls man, 24, was hit by an Acura MDX vehicle while walking toward the interstate’s right shoulder from the left shoulder. The 24-year-old pedestrian was pushed forward and died from his injuries at the scene.
Law enforcement was summoned to the scene before 6 a.m. and also determined that the pedestrian was also a suspect in connection with a wrong-way hit-and-run collision that happened 10 hours earlier, on Friday, also along NW 175th Street.
Authorities said the Granite Falls man was said to have been driving at a low speed when he struck a Department of Transportation vehicle. The DOT occupant was unharmed.
A 42-year-old adult, a Lake Stevens resident who struck the pedestrian, was not deemed at fault. As such, no criminal charges have been filed as of this writing.
