Early morning collision blocks lane on State Route 99 downtown

SEATTLE, WA – Emergency crews in downtown Seattle reported significant delays as the result of an early morning collision on State Route 99 on Thursday.

According to the official Twitter page of the Washington State Department of Transportation, the accident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of SR-99 near the 1st Avenue bridge.

No injuries were reported as an immediate result of the collision. However, the center lane was blocked for about an hour causing a significant traffic jam for early morning commuters.

Details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision or the identities of those involved have not been made available to the public.
