News: Driver arrested after fatal hit-and-run collision on SR-524 in Bothell

EVERETT, WA – Troopers with the Washington State Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian collision on State Route 524 in Bothell on Friday morning.

According to a series of tweets from Trooper Rocky Oliphant, the collision occurred just west of Nellis Rd around 11:17 a.m.

Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle, causing fatal injuries to both and the roadway to be shut down.

Expect a long term closure of SR 524 in Bothell for a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. Both pedestrians were unfortunately killed from the collision. Please be patient while we investigate.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered the vehicle had fled the scene. Due to the impact of the collision, they suspected substantial damage to the front of the suspect vehicle.

This is a hit and run collision. We are still on scene gathering evidence. No ETA for opening. I do not have a suspect vehicle yet.

An update was shared at 1:16 p.m., stating the vehicle was located and the driver was arrested.

Suspect vehicle has been located. Driver is in custody.

The roadway was expected to be fully reopened around 3:50 p.m., though no further updates were shared.
