Seattle is a busy city with much vehicle, bicycle and foot traffic. Thus, there are risks associated in areas where each of these modes of transportation intermingle. Motorists are held to a certain standard, and this means that they must drive safely around pedestrians and cyclists, keeping in mind crosswalks and bike lanes. Failure to do so could result in a serious and even fatal collision.
According to recent reports, a cyclist was killed in a collision with a motor vehicle in Seattle. Authorities stated that the 63-year-old cyclist was traveling north on Seward Park Avenue South, just east of Wilson Avenue South when he was struck and killed by a vehicle jest before 7 p.m.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene where witnesses were performing CPR until medics arrived. The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died from the injuries suffered.
The motorist involved in the crash did not remain at the scene. Police are investigating this hit-and-run crash, and based on witness accounts, they are looking for a silver Nissan Sentra with damage to their front and a broken windshield.
A hit-and-run crash can be a difficult event for loved ones to cope with, as it leaves one with many unanswered questions. They have no one to blame or hold accountable for their loss; however, it is not a hopeless situation, as it is possible for the vehicle and driver to be located.
The loss of a loved one is a difficult event to cope with, as nothing can be done to bring back the loved one lost. However, family members of the deceased could file a civil action to help address the losses suffered due to the wrongful death of a loved one. In the matter of a hit-and-run accident, it can feel hopeless and like one has no options. However, this is not the case. It is possible to gain information about what options are available so the initial steps can be taken when and if the driver that is accountable is located.
