News: 3 injured when car collides with trailer on I-5 near Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, WA – Two men and a woman were injured yesterday when a car  slammed into a travel trailer on the shoulder of I-5 near Samish Way, KOMO reports.

The Washington State Patrol responded to the incident sometime before 4:53 p.m. on Sunday, March 21. A pickup hauling a travel trailer was pulled to the side of the interstate so its occupants could change a tire on the trailer. They were almost done when the trailer was struck by a passing motorist lost control of his car during a lane change. The trailer then struck the man and woman, hurling them into a ditch.

The woman suffered a concussion and several cuts, but is expected to survive. Her companion received less serious injuries, as did the car’s driver.

WSP continues to investigate, but does not suspect intoxication at this time.
