News: 1 killed, 1 hurt in head-on crash in Lynnwood 

LYNNWOOD, WA – One person was killed and another was injured in a two-car crash that took place on SR-9 along 164th Street Southeast on Sunday. 

Washington State Patrol told Kiro7 that the crash occurred when a 61-year-old man had tried to overtake a vehicle in front of him on northbound SR-9 by switching to the southbound lane. In trying to overtake, he crashed head-on into another vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, an 82-year-old man from Snohomish, died from his injuries. 

The 61-year-old man was taken to Providence Medical Center for unspecified injuries. 

Temporary lane closures were issued and lifted by 2 a.m.
