News: 1 dead, driver arrested following accident on Pacific Avenue South

TACOMA, WA – A motor vehicle accident on Pacific Avenue South Monday evening left one person dead and another arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, reports the News Tribune.

Tacoma police said the accident occurred around 8:15 p.m. Monday, when the rear end of a southbound pickup truck was clipped by another southbound pickup truck near the intersection of South 61st Street and Pacific Avenue South.

The driver of the clipped pick up truck then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. A passenger of this truck was declared deceased at the scene.

The 56-year-old driver of the trailing pick up truck had non-serious injuries, and was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault. The suspect was then booked into Pierce County Jail.
