SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA – According to KING 5, a street race ended with a fatal crash on I-5 NB near mile marker 212 on Monday.
An 18-year-old man attempted to pass a semi-truck on the left shoulder when the driver lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the truck’s trailer around 1 p.m. The collision sent the vehicle into a ditch. It then caught on fire. The driver died in the incident.
Authorities arrested a third driver who was allegedly racing the driver who crashed.
Emergency crews closed down the area to process the scene following the wreck.
The area was reopened around 6 p.m.
The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the collision.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
