PUYALLUP, WA – According to KIRO 7, an allegedly impaired pickup truck driver struck and hurt a motorcyclist at 39th Ave SW and 7th St SW on Sunday.
A 28-year-old man was riding a motorcycle east on 39th Ave SW when a pickup truck driver from 7th St SW slammed into him around 6:02 p.m.
Investigators determined the crash was caused by the pickup truck driver not yielding the right of way.
First responders transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities found the 72-year-old man driving the pickup truck to be impaired. They arrested him for DUI.
Crews shut down the area to process the scene. The area was reopened a few hours later.
The Metro Major Collision Response Team is investigating the incident.
