LAKE STEVENS, WA – Emergency crews and a good Samaritan rescued a driver who had plunged into Lake Stevens Thursday night, according to KING 5.
An 81-year-old man was at the North Cove boat launch when he made a wrong turn and went down the ramp into the water. It was foggy and dark at the time.
A person saw the vehicle drive into the water. They called 911 and jumped into the water to help the driver.
Rescue crews and an off-duty firefighter responded to the scene. By the time the crews arrived, the car had floated around 100 feet away from the dock and was sinking.
The good Samaritan and rescue drivers secured the car and were able to help the driver exit the vehicle.
Paramedics transported the driver to an area hospital and treated the good Samaritan for cold water exposure at the scene.
