LAKEWOOD, WA – The teen accused of causing a deadly wreck on I-5 NB between Bridgeport Way and WA 512 on Jan. 23 pleaded not guilty on Monday, according to KING 5.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a pickup truck south on I-5 NB when he slammed into a sedan driven by Mia C. Tanner Lockard, 18, around 11:30 p.m. Lockard died in the crash.

Washington State Patrol troopers found the teen’s eyes were bloodshot, and he smelled of alcohol. The teen agreed to perform a field sobriety test, and he failed it. Troopers arrested him for DUI.

The teen pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide on Monday. He will appear in court again on Feb. 10.
