SEATTLE, WA – The officer who fatally collided with Jaahnavi Kandula as she was walking in a crosswalk at Dexter Ave N and Thomas St on Jan. 23, 2023, admitted to second-degree negligent driving on Wednesday, according to KING 5.
Officer Kevin Dave was responding to an overdose call and was driving around 74 mph when he collided with Kandula.
Dave had his emergency lights on but did not activate his siren during the collision.
Dave will pay a penalty of $5,000 and wil have to complete an eight-hour traffic safety course in one year. Dave will be able to keep his driver’s license if he does this.
