RENTON, WA – According to KIRO 7, two people were hurt following a multi-vehicle wrong-way collision near I-405 SB and NE 44th St on Saturday.
A 27-year-old man was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-405 when he slammed head-on into a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old. A third driver attempted to swerve out of the way but was struck by the wrong-way vehicle as it spun out.
First responders transported the wrong-way driver and the 48-year-old man to Harborview Medical Center. The 27-year-old is in stable condition, the 48-year-old remains in critical condition. The third driver was not hurt in the collision.
Authorities charged the 27-year-old with vehicle assault.
Following the wreck, crews shut down the area for three hours to process the scene.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
