News: Toddler dies following wrong-way wreck on WA 18 in Covington

COVINGTON, WA – A 19-year-old driver caused a wreck that killed a toddler near WA 18 and SE 256th St on Monday, according to KING 5.

A 19-year-old driver was heading west on WA 18 when they crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and slammed into another vehicle.

A 21-month-old child from the car that was struck died in the wreck. First responders transported both drivers to an area hospital.

Authorities have charged the 19-year-old with DUI and vehicular homicide.

Crews shut down the area to process the scene. It was reopened four hours later.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
