SEATTLE, WA – According to KING 5, an alleged impaired driver struck and killed a pedestrian in the I-5 express lanes near Union St on Sunday.
.A 20-year-old man stepped into traffic around 9 p.m. A 20-year-old female driver swerved and braked to avoid hitting the man. The driver behind her, a 30-year-old man, tried to swerve but hit the pedestrian and the other driver.
First responders transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where he died.
Authorities arrested the 30-year-old male driver for DUI and vehicular homicide.
Emergency crews shut down the area to process the scene. The area was reopened four hours later.
The Washington State Police is investigating the incident.
