COVINGTON, WA – Authorities believe the 19-year-old who allegedly caused a crash that killed a 21-month-old baby on WA 18 near SE 256th St on Oct. 21 was impaired at the time of the collision, according to KOMO.
The 19-year-old man was reportedly driving west on WA 18 when he crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck another vehicle around 3 p.m.
The 21-month-old was in the vehicle that was struck. They died in the crash. First responders transported the baby’s mother to an area hospital with broken bones.
Crews also transported the 19-year-old to an area hospital. Troopers are considering charging him with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and DUI.
Authorities will book the 19-year-old in jail once he is medically cleared.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
