SEATTLE, WA – According to KOMO, a man who collided with a Metro bus, causing it to hit and kill a woman near 5th Ave and Battery St on Nov. 4, 2023, while high on fentanyl, has been sentenced.
Adam Abelson, 32, was speeding on 5th Ave when he ran a red light at Battery St and slammed into a Metro Bus. The impact caused the bus to stray off the road and collide with Amanda Schneider, 28. Schneider was standing on the corner waiting for the signal to cross the street. She died in the wreck.
Abelson admitted in a plea agreement that he was high on fentanyl and had used cocaine before the incident. He pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle without a license, and reckless driving.
Judge Marshall Ferguson ruled that Abelson spend 15 years in prison.
