SEATTLE, WA – A jury decided Washington state was not liable in the death of a BLM protester who was struck and killed on I-5 near Olive Way on July 4, 2020, according to KIRO 7.
Summer Taylor was protesting on I-5 with a small group of people when Dawit Kelete drove onto I-5 and collided with Taylor and Diaz Love.
Rescue crews transported the two victims to an area hospital with serious injuries. Taylor died in the hospital.
Kelete pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and reckless driving.
A jury determined that Kelete was fully responsible for the collision. He is to pay $6 million for the Estate of Summer Taylor.
