OLYMPIA, WA – One person is dead after a driver on the run from authorities collided head-on with another vehicle near Pacific Ave SE and Fones Rd SE on Saturday, according to KIRO 7.
A caller informed deputies that a woman in a black truck had shown up asking for fentanyl before trying to run her over and then fleeing the over around 4 p.m.
Deputies located the truck and ran the plates. The car was stolen from King County.
Authorities attempted to pull her over, but she fled the scene, prompting a high-speed chase from Lacey to Olympia.
An Olympia police officer utilized a spike strip and flattened two of the woman’s tires.
The woman continued driving at high speeds despite the flat tires.
The suspect was driving the wrong way as she came across Pacific Ave SE and Fones Rd SE and slammed into another car head-on.
Following the collision, the woman exited the truck and tried to flee on foot. Authorities quickly apprehended her.
Three people from the car that was hit were injured. One of them died in the hospital.
First responders transported the suspect to an area hospital with minor injuries. She was treated and then taken to jail.
Authorities charged the suspect with second-degree murder, two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, second-degree assault, and driving on a suspended license.
