SEATTLE, WA – According to KOMO News, a driver pleaded guilty to causing a deadly crash that killed a woman at 5th Ave and Battery St on Nov. 4, 2023.

Adam Rueben Abelson, 32, was driving at high speeds on 5th Ave when he ran a red light at Battery St and hit a Metro Bus.

The impact caused the bus driver to lose control of the vehicle and to go off the road, where they hit Amanda Joelle Schneider, 28.

Authorities found drug paraphernalia in Abelson’s vehicle. Abelson admitted he was high on fentanyl and had used cocaine before the wreck as part of a plea agreement.

Abelson pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide DUI and driving without a license.

Prosecutors recommend that Abelson serve 158 months in prison. He will be sentenced in September in King County Superior Court.
