News: Driver of stolen car hits officers on NW Ballard Way

SEATTLE, WA – According to KIRO 7, the driver of a stolen car hit two officers while trying to flee police in the parking lot of a business located on the 900 block of NW Ballard Way on Tuesday.

Officers found the stolen car parked in front of a business around 1 p.m. They saw a 27-year-old man sleeping inside and woke him up. The man disobeyed their commands and put the car in reverse, hitting a male and a female officer. The impact knocked them to the ground.

Authorities pinned the stolen car with a police car. The man then tried to flee on foot but was tased and then arrested.

Emergency crews treated the man at the scene and then took him to an area hospital. Once released from the hospital, he will be booked into jail on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, eluding a police vehicle, possessing a stolen vehicle, two counts of felony assault, and the sale and delivery of methamphetamine.

The two officers were treated at the scene by firefighters and then transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
