OLYMPIA, WA – A motorcyclist was hurt when he crashed while fleeing deputies on the 1500 block of Delphi Rd on Sunday, according to KOMO.
The motorcyclist was riding erratically around 2:30 a.m. near 93rd Ave SW. Deputies attempted to pull him over, but the motorcyclist sped off and led deputies on a chase.
Deputies pursued the motorcyclist as he drove north on I-5 towards US 101. Eventually, he went to Delphi Rd, where he was riding too fast and fishtailed when he hit the brakes. The rider slammed into a mailbox, which threw him about 25 feet from the bike.
The deputy chasing the motorcyclist rendered aid to him until rescue crews arrived and transported him to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The motorcyclist had active warrants for driving on a suspended license and DUI. Authorities have now charged him with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, failure to transfer title, reckless driving, and suspended driving.
