RENTON, WA – Four people were hurt when an alleged impaired driver slammed into a parked car on the 1700 block of Union Ave NE on Sunday, according to KOMO.
A 21-year-old man was driving a blue pickup truck south on Union Ave when he plowed into the parked vehicle occupied by a family of three. The impact pushed the parked vehicle about 100 feet.
Witnesses informed officers the driver was swerving and speeding before the collision.
Rescue crews transported the three people inside the parked vehicle to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old driver was unconscious and taken to the hospital.
Officers detected a heavy odor of alcohol in the suspect’s vehicle. They will take a blood sample from the suspect to determine if he was impaired.
Crews shut down both directions of Union Ave NE to process the collision.
The Traffic Investigations Division of the Renton Police Department is investigating the incident.
