OLYMPIA, WA – According to KIRO 7, a suspected drunk driver collided with another vehicle at Sleater-Kenney Rd NE and 26th Ave on Sunday.
A pickup truck driver was speeding when they ran a stop sign and hit an SUV on the passenger side. The collision sent the SUV crashing into a ditch.
The pickup truck driver was thrown from the vehicle and landed in a ditch.
Emergency crews extricated the SUV driver from the vehicle. They were not seriously hurt.
First responders rendered aid to the suspect. They said they could smell alcohol on his breath.
Authorities charged the pickup truck driver with felony vehicular assault and DUI.
The incident is under investigation by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
