News: Police investigate fatal 2-vehicle crash in Downtown Seattle

SEATTLE, WA – According to KOMO, the Seattle Police Department is investigating a deadly two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a woman in her 70s at 4th Ave S and S Washington St on Thursday.

A blue truck collided with a yellow taxicab around noon. Both vehicles had extensive damage.

Rescue crews transported the taxicab driver, his male passenger, and three female passengers in their 70s to an area hospital. One of the three female passengers died.

Authorities arrested the truck driver for investigation of vehicular homicide. That driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Crews shut down the northbound lanes of 4th Ave S and S Washingon St to clear the scene and investigate the crash. The area was reopened around 3 p.m.

It is unclear what caused the crash.

Authorities urge anyone with information concerning the wreck to contact the SPD Traffic Collision Investigation Squad.
