SEATTLE, WA – According to KOMO, the Seattle Police Department officer who struck and killed a pedestrian with his patrol car on Jan. 23 missed the deadline to pay the traffic fine.

Officer Kevin Dave was driving at 74 miles per hour, which was three times the speed limit, when he fatally collided with Jaahnavi Kandula, 23, near Thomas St at Dexter Ave N. Kandula had the right of way at the time of the crash.

Dave had his emergency lights on but did not activate his siren during the collision.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office decided not to file criminal charges against Dave in February. They issued a $5,000 traffic infraction against him in March.

Dave had until May 13 to pay the infraction. He did not pay the infraction as of May 14. A late fee of $52 has been added to the infraction.
