SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — At least one person lost their life Monday afternoon as a result of a rollover collision on Interstate 5 in northwest Arlington, according to KOMO News.
The fatal crash happened on the northbound lanes just before 236th Street Northeast (Exit 210) and was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) at about 1:25 p.m.
Officials have not released a statement detailing the events leading up to the wreck, but Washington State Patrol troopers and EMS personnel responded to the scene. At one point during the emergency response, WSDOT cameras also captured a medical helicopter landing in the area.
Motorists were forced to divert onto State Route 530 at milepost 208 during a closure of all northbound lanes, which created a nearly 10-mile traffic backup.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m., after the roads were reopened to traffic, WSP Trooper Kelsey Harding confirmed at least one death in the accident.
No further information has been made available at this time.
