TUKWILA, WA — A head-on rollover collision early Monday in Tukwila has claimed the life of a 28-year-old Federal Way woman, according to KOMO News.
The Washington State Patrol and first responders were called to the scene on State Route 599 just north of Interurban Avenue shortly before 3:00 a.m.
An early investigation found that the woman was operating a 2006 Nissan Maxima southbound when, for reasons still being determined, the vehicle traveled past the center median and overturned into the northbound highway. Moments later, the Nissan collided head-on with a 2022 Toyota Highlander.
The driver of the Nissan was rushed to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries. She was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Highlander, a 56-year-old man, was transported to Valley Medical Center as a precaution for unspecified injuries.
All northbound lanes and the Interurban Avenue onramp were blocked during the emergency response, but were all reopened to the public shortly before 8:00 a.m.
While an investigation remains ongoing, the WSP crash report indicates that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
