PUYALLUP, WA — Two men were injured in a crash late Saturday morning after recklessly driving and then fleeing a traffic stop in Puyallup, according to KOMO News.
Puyallup Police said officers initially tried to pull over on the northbound side of the 1500 block of South Meridian was pulled in 1500 block of South Meridian at first, but then soon left again, leaving leftovers in the lane before.
At one point, Destiney said the driver proceeded northbound on South Meridian and began weaving in and out of traffic after a patrol vehicle’s emergency equipment began sounding.
Shortly after the officer inside the patrol vehicle deactivated their pursuit, the fleeing vehicle lost control. The vehicle veered past the southbound highway and collided with the signal pole near the Blue Gate at the Western Washington State Fairgrounds, located in the 1100 block of the road.
Authorities said that while two young men were left trapped in the vehicle as it caught fire after the crash, officers were able to remove the occupants and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue were able to put out the fire. Both patients were transported to local hospitals for unknown injuries.
An investigation into potential impairment was underway.
