KING COUNTY, WA — A 56-year-old woman lost her life late Sunday morning, February 11, due to a collision near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport that left two others injured, one seriously, reports KOMO News.
The fatal incident unfolded in the 17300 block of International Boulevard, shortly after 11:15 a.m.
An investigation remains open and ongoing, but Puget Sound Fire (PSF) confirmed that the victim, Jacqueline Austin, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other people, including one victim who suffered serious injuries, were transported to area hospitals.
While the events leading up to the crash remain unclear, according to her sister, Austin was on the phone with her and standing at a bus stop when she was struck by a vehicle traveling at high speed. Preliminary details indicate Austin remained on the phone with her sister for three hours before she succumbed to her injuries.
On Wednesday morning, the King County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a 37-year-old man in connection with the crash. He has since been booked into King County Jail pending an investigation into “vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.”
