SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening in northeast Snohomish claimed the life of a 55-year-old woman, according to KOMO News.
Washington State Patrol officials say the fatal wreck unfolded on a stretch of State Route 2 near Three Lakes Road at about 6:22 p.m. Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies were joined on the scene by Snohomish County Fire District #4 and Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue crews.
A preliminary investigation shows a 23-year-old Snohomish man was operating a 2007 Toyota Highlander westbound when the vehicle veered past the center line and collided head-on with a 2018 Toyota Sienna driven by the victim.
First responders arrived to find both drivers trapped inside their vehicles.
While crews immediately performed triage, the driver of the Toyota, Tu Thanh Thi Lam, of Monroe, was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officails.
Within 12 minutes, fire crews were able to remove the Snohomish man from his vehicle. He was then transported to an area hospital for serious injuries. Officials have not yet released any information about any pending charges.
An investigation remains underway.
