SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — An 82-year-old woman has died following a pedestrian collision Monday morning on U.S. Highway 2 in Monroe, according to KOMO News.
Monroe Police Department officials said the fatal incident occurred at the intersection with North Kelsey Street, near the Fred Meyer store, at around 6:53 a.m.
An investigation into the circumstances of the event remains underway, but all westbound lanes of US-2, as well as both northbound and southbound lanes of North Kelsey Street, were shut down for more than 3 hours.
Preliminary details indicate the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, and that the driver stayed at the site and cooperated with an investigation, which remains ongoing.
By 9:50 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.
